Dear TCVSCPA Members:
Welcome to the Tidewater Chapter’s 2021-2022 fiscal year. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Jennifer French, our immediate Past President, and the entire board for their dedication and service to this organization – especially during a challenging year like 2020.
Over the past year, the board adapted to the new challenges of holding events in the era of COVID-19 and was able to offer around 50 hours of CPE on a variety of topics in a webinar format.
While we all hope to be able to gather safely soon, at this time the board is planning to continue to offer primarily virtual events. The positive aspect of this is that we are able to offer a variety of 1 – 4 hour CPE courses throughout the year that cover a variety of topics. These courses will include the 8 hours of A&A credit, 4 hours of not-for-profit credit, and ethics credit that you have come to expect. In total, the board is currently planning to offer in excess of 50 total credits of CPE in the 2021-2022 year.
In addition to the virtual courses, the board plans on hosting an in-person CPE event at the Chesapeake Conference Center for the full day on August 18th. Our hope is that by then, we’ll be able to offer a safe option for in-person learning and a chance to say hello to friends and colleagues in person after too long apart. More information regarding this CPE event will be released at a later date.
Finally, we plan on offering at least one social event during this membership year. We are currently in talks with the management of the Norfolk Tides to host something similar to our Tides Game event in prior years, in a safe and healthy environment.
Our website is now accepting membership renewals. This year, membership fees will remain at $165 if paid by June 15th and $170 after that date. As this membership fee will include more CPE hours than ever before, we think we are offering a great value to our members.
Do not forget to pay your VSCPA dues. VSCPA registration opens May 1 and the deadline is May 31st. This year, when paying your VSCPA dues, you will be directed to the TCVSCPA website to pay the chapter dues as well.
Lastly, we ask that you reach out to us with any ideas on ways the Tidewater Chapter could help during this extraordinary time. Thank you all for your membership and dedication to our profession.
