Letter from the President

April 25, 2024

 Dear TCVSCPA Members:

I am delighted to welcome you to the start of the Tidewater Chapter’s 2024-2025 fiscal year.  Let’s take a moment to reflect on our achievements from the past year and express our gratitude to those who contributed. I extend heartfelt thanks to Laura Langton, our Immediate Past President, and the entire board for their exceptional leadership.  Their dedication has been instrumental in driving the continued success of our chapter.  I encourage you to engage with our board members during upcoming events like the in-person CPE seminars this fall and our annual Tides baseball game social.  Your support and feedback are invaluable.

During the past year, the TCVSCPA was once again able to offer our members over 70 hours of quality CPE.  The majority of the CPE offered was in the webinar format, which was adopted as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  We are considering additional online CPE providers in an effort to gain some variety for the upcoming year. While this format of CPE continues to allow the Tidewater Chapter to provide its members with a significant number of convenient CPE hours, we recognize that many of our members are eager to also have options for in-person CPE.  In response, we are currently coordinating two in-person seminars to take place later this fall.  If you have a presentation that you think would be of interest to your fellow members, please contact Dan Cook to discuss speaking opportunities.

We are pleased to announce that dues for the 2024-2025 membership year will remain $150 if paid by June 15th and $155 if paid after that date.  Take advantage of the early bird discount by renewing your membership for the 2024-2025 year before June 15th.  Visit our website to renew starting May 1st and continue enjoying exclusive benefits.

We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding over the past year as the TCVSCPA website underwent a series of improvements.  The small team of board members that spearheaded that project, and continue to oversee the website maintenance, all deserve our sincere appreciation.

The Tidewater Chapter is seeking new board members!  Serving on the board is a way to give back to the local CPA community and also an invaluable opportunity for personal and professional development.  Your fresh perspectives and ideas are vital as we navigate the future of our chapter.  We invite members interested in serving on the board to reach out to any current board members to discuss next steps.

We look forward to serving the Tidewater Chapter for the next year and would like to thank you for your membership.  As we embark on this new fiscal year, let us continue to work together to enhance our offerings and impact.  Your feedback and suggestions are crucial to our success.

 Sincerely,

Amber Shimp, CPA, MSA
