About Us

The Tidewater Chapter of the Virginia Society of CPAs

On behalf of the Tidewater Chapter of the Virginia Society Board, thank you for visiting our site! The Tidewater Chapter serves members in the Hampton Roads area. Our members represent approximately 700 CPA’s from the Tidewater area from all walks of accountancy, ranging from Public and Private to Non-Profit and Higher Education. The Chapter is led by a group of fifteen volunteer CPA’s, who meet bi-monthly from April through January. For the low price of $150, we provide 31 hours of CPE that is included with membership, as well as, some fun activities during the year like a Tides baseball game for the member and a guest. The only caveat is that you must be a member of the Virginia Society before becoming a member with the Chapter. Non-members are welcome too and just need to pay for the CPE day they attend. Our meetings are held at the Chesapeake Conference Center and include a continental breakfast, buffet lunch and afternoon break. The speakers for the sessions are all experts in their field and are often open to discussion during lunch and once the program ends. The break and lunch times provide great networking opportunities with other members. Our vendors, who sponsor the CPE days, have booths at the events and provide additional networking opportunities and sometimes a raffle gift or two. If you are already a member “Thank You” we are so glad to have you as part of our Chapter. If you are thinking about membership, please look at our website and events page to see all the great things being a member of the Tidewater Chapter offers!

Chapter Membership

Being a member of the Tidewater Chapter comes with great benefits. Our first event after Tax Season is “Not for Profit” Day in June and includes 4 hours of CPE. This event is held at Old Dominion University. During the summer, we provide a fun outing for our members with a Tides Baseball game for the member and guest. Also during the summer we provide 8 different sessions of “Ethics” held in 4 locations in Tidewater: Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Suffolk and the Peninsula. The fall starts our 8 hour CPE conferences with A&A Day in September, Specialized Knowledge Day in October and Tax Day in November. Lastly but not least, we offer an Economic Forecast breakfast with 1 hour of CPE in the January/February timeframe.

For our Young CPA’s we also have networking events during the year and for our younger aspiring CPA’s we offer scholarships for those attending college in the Tidewater area.

Vendors

Vendors are very important to the Chapter not only providing resources to help offset the cost of providing quality CPE but also for the networking opportunities and raffle gifts they provide.
